36 Field Street, Rochester, NY 14620This summer we have been renovating our new building at 36 Field Street at the corner of Monroe Avenue, in the city of Rochester. Though there have been opportunities to relocate outside of the city, we felt that it was important for us to strengthen our connection to the community in the city that we call home. For years, we have searched the city of Rochester for a building to purchase that would accommodate the unusual needs of a glassblowing studio and provide adequate space, frontage and parking for a gallery and exhibition space. Fortunately, we have found a new home for More Fire Glass Studio at 36 Field Street!This week we will begin to move our equipment and settle in. There is still lots to be done! Exciting features of our new space include great visibility, expanded gallery space, event space and studio space.Our current studio is off the beaten path, tucked behind other buildings, near railroad tracks, and we always hear about how difficult it is to find. With this new location More Fire Glass Studio will be more visible and accessible to the public! Close to downtown, we will now be able to participate in First Fridays and other city art events. We hope our creative energy and the revitalization of this building, on Monroe Avenue and Field Street, will be an asset to the neighborhood and to the Rochester community. The new location is right off the 490 exit at Monroe Avenue, making it easy to get to from all parts of the city and the surrounding area. We are building out an 1100 sq. foot gallery and exhibition space to showcase our handmade goods and the work of other artists. One of our priorities in this new space is to offer a thoughtfully curated selection of wares from a variety of local makers.

In addition, we will host guest-curated exhibitions that bring the work of national and international artists in a range of media to the Rochester community. Our new gallery/flex space will be a wonderful area for private parties and gatherings. We plan to make it the perfect place for your memorable art-inspired events. A unique gathering place to entertain and enjoy a private glassblowing demonstration! Our working studio known as the “hot-shop” is open and functional with ample space for a viewing area. We have always been committed to sharing our process with the public. The process of glassblowing is magical and we invite our visitors to see how objects are made.The home contains four bedrooms, three of which have king beds and one with a queen bed. There are three full bathrooms upstairs, all with glass-enclosed showers, exposed beams and chandeliers. One of the bathrooms is a “Jack and Jill” arrangement, accessible from two of the bedrooms. The master bathroom has an extra-large shower with overhead and body sprays and a steam generator.

This bathroom also has a Jacuzzi-brand hot tub. Downstairs there are numerous places where you can relax and gather. waterford crystal chandelier c6There is a large sun-filled living room with a wood-burning fireplace and large-screen TV. chandelier icing stencilNext to that is a cozy wood-paneled room featuring another wood-burning fireplace with a mantel dating to the 1700’s, a bar and an Olfhausen pool table. chandelier littlewoodsThere is a formal dining room with seating for 12. Another gathering place is a room with vaulted ceilings facing the patio. Lastly there is sunroom with a Jotul wood-burning stove suitable for use almost year-round. The kitchen is centrally located and features a Heartland gas stove with electric oven.

There is also a large Kenmore Elite refrigerator, KitchenAid dishwasher, Panasonic microwave, KitchenAid mixer and Cuisinart food processor. There is a center island with 2 stools and an adjacent table that seats 6. Outdoors you will find a truly huge flagstone patio with an 8-person, 900-gallon Calspa hot tub, solar shower, 10-person dining table and a firepit with seating. The patio is well lit for evening use. Tiki torches are available for use (complete with fuel) and do help with mosquito control. The patio looks outward to a large lawn bordered by over 100 trees and shrubs, including many lilac bushes. The lush vegetation provides complete privacy in the summer months, and peaceful surroundings throughout the year. There is a large open lawn in the middle of the back yard that is suitable for low-impact outdoor activities such as Frisbee, corn-toss, croquet or tossing a football or baseball. We strive to keep the lawn 100% weed-free and well-manicured at all times. You will enjoy the lushness of the grass and the feel on your bare feet.

Overnight guests not hosting an event will have access to the entire house, patio, hot tub and yard. The listed price on Airbnb does not include any events. If you wish to host an event during your visit, please let us know when you inquire about your reservation. We will provide pricing for your visit, including the event charge. Events include any gathering of more than 8 guests (not including those staying overnight). Any plans involving catering, music, professional photography, etc. need to be discussed with us before making your reservation. Most events will require event insurance, which costs less than $200. We can arrange for this insurance or you can procure it and provide us with a copy. Guests hosting an event can also use the Barn Bar or all or a portion of their event.We will be present to welcome you to the Beal House and provide a tour. After that, we will not be on the property unless you request assistance. We or one of our representatives live within 10-40 minutes and are available by phone anytime.

For events, The Beal House simply provides the facility for your event. Additional parking is available on the side of the long driveway and on designated grass areas (subject to ground wetness).The Beal House is available for rent with or without an event.
