WINDFALL - JEWELLERS OF LIGHT Crystal has an almost magical appeal. It mes-merises through its sparkling array of colours which create a refraction of light. To achieve the greatest luminosity of the passage of light with sharpness and coherence was a challenge at all times. Clarissa Dorn and Roel Haagmans also pursue their love for light and crystal when they establish the WINDFALL company in Munich in summer 2004 in order to pave new ways in crystal luminaire design. The Dutchman made his name on the international scene with his designs for classical/oriental chandeliers for the Sultan Quabos Mosque in Muscat and the Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. Clarissa Dorn brought long-term experience in art, interior design and organisation with her.Their first joint design "SCARLETT" - a crystal cascade, encased by a transparent, colourful Organza cylinder shade - has enjoyed great success.Shortly after, their second design, the "HELLBOB" was developed, the idea for a new lighting concept for crystal chandeliers, a custom-made crystal sphere using the "WINDFALL CURLER" technique.

Floating crystal objects are illuminated by down lights which can unfurl unimagined emotions through the spatial illuminating effects that result. A new kind of subtle charm in luxurious lighting is born. Interior designers and private owners are rapidly drawn to these unusual designs which the company are commissioned to design and execute in projects all over the world. Just like a storm, WINDFALL stirs up the traditional lighting sector. With architects like KCA, David Chipperfield and SHH in London and Paul Steelman Designs from Las Vegas, the first large projects are realised. With "BALANCE" of light which can be consolidated perfectly to the most diverse lighting arrangements and the floating dispersion of light further refined, one of the "MOST BELOVED ONES" of WINDFALL emerged in 2006 in the "CLASSIC WITH A TWIST" series. This chandelier is so modern and classic that it makes dreams come true in Arabic Palaces and the Royal Albert Hall just as much as for individuals in nightclubs in Brussels, bars in Moscow or mansions in Bel Air.Happiness and the personal, passionate handling of their work, proximity to customers and the constant willingness to change has given the small company from the Maxvorstadt district of Munich rise to collaboration with British Airways.

Terminal 5 London and Washington, Phillipp Starck in New York, Roberto Cavalli and since 2009 Montblanc. But this success does not come from anywhere projects like Roberto Cavalli's flagship store in Paris or the project currently in progress for Montblanc in Paris show that not only are visionary ideas incorporated but meticulous working on chandelier decoration by the use of millimetre accurate calculations
chandelier equitation hauteur, long term experience in creating chandeliers, well-founded knowledge of ornamentation, the use of the best materials and natural love and dedication sum up the entire work of the WINDFALL company.

It is one of the most beautiful and extravagant modern mosques in the world. The mosque was first opened in 2001 and took six years to build. The mosque features a blend of Islamic, Middle Eastern, and Omani architectural styles, hosts one of the world’s largest handmade Persian rugs and one of the world’s biggest crystal chandeliers.

The Grand Mosque is the largest mosque in Oman and can accommodate up to 20,000 worshippers in total. The mosque has four main sections, the main prayer hall, the women prayer hall, the library, and the lecture theater. Non-Muslims can come to visit the Grand Mosque from 8am to 11am from Saturday to Thursday, while the library is open from 9am to 2am and 4pm to 9pm Saturday to Wednesday (on Thursday the library is open for the morning session only). Visitors must dress conservatively especially women who must cover their hair, shoulders, and arms when they visit the mosque. If you come to visit the Grand Mosque do not miss going to the library and walking around the outer corridor around the mosque which features a variety of mosaics artworks and explanations of the different design styles uses. It is actually possible to come visit the mosque outside official visiting hours if you do not plan on going inside the actual prayer halls, especially if you want to come take photographs around sunset or at night.
