Although many know the late René Lalique for his glassware, his first career was as a jeweller – and these are the treasures that have become more popular in recent years. “Our crystal pieces are enjoying immense success and recent collaborations – such as with Zaha Hadid – have taken us to another level,” says Anne Kazuro, Lalique’s international director of jewellery. So much so that on Thursday July 3 the company is opening the first Lalique boutique entirely dedicated to fine jewellery, in Paris, during Haute Couture week.   “We have chosen one of the most prestigious fine-jewellery locations in the world, Rue de la Paix, which is a stone’s throw from René Lalique’s original shop on Place Vendôme, where he showed his creations from 1905 to 1935,” Kazuro continues. The style of the store is – naturally – art deco- and art nouveau-inspired, and extends over 80sq m and two floors. Hanging from the ceiling is a chandelier made up of 2,500 of the marque’s Gourmande rings, the piece designed by Lalique in 1931 – it has been created by the Pustetto Agency, along with the architecture and furniture.

On the ground floor, 200 gems from the fine and high-jewellery collections will be displayed, alongside a selection of iconic house pieces, such as the aforementioned Gourmande ring (€100) and the Mascottes cuff links (from €150).
