After being in San Francisco, New York, and Seattle over the course of the past few weeks, I have finally gotten a taste of fall and am ready for some chic, new pieces to add to my fall wardrobe. This month, I am craving blouses with pretty silhouettes, structured bags, chic loafers and flats, and great jackets that work year-round. With so many items on my wish list this month, it’s probably a good thing that my birthday is a few weeks away! {Image via @ThinkGrowProsper on Instagram} Have you seen the trailer for the new movie, Jackie starring Natalie Portman? Several actresses have portrayed Jackie Kennedy in the past, but the exquisite Portman really seems to get it right in the upcoming film. Between the score and the heartbreak, it looks like it will be quite a powerful, and likely Oscar-worthy film. I love the faded hues of the cinematography which are transportive. I also love Jackie’s wardrobe, hair, and chic style– always– and especially in this film. I can’t wait to see it!
On another note, I have a question for you. For more than nine years, I have published a new blog post, Monday through Friday. I love my blog and am so thankful to all of you for reading it. I was at a work event in Seattle earlier this week with a group of food bloggers and was surprised by how sporadically most of them post. One woman said she used to post everyday, but that her readers told her they couldn’t keep up, so now she posts a couple of times a month. I don’t have any plans to ever scale back to such an extreme, but wondered your thoughts on the frequency of my posts. Are they too much to keep up with having 5-6 per week? Do you like the current rhythm? Would you be disappointed if one week I only posted 3 or 4 times? My blog is such a source of inspiration and devotion for me, but some weeks, it is challenging to do it all between meeting the demands of my interior design business, traveling for work as much as I do, and maintaining any semblance of a personal life.
Plus, I want to feel inspired and excited about the things that I feature on the blog and when a week is unusually overwhelming or busy, it can be more difficult to feel that way. In the past, I have been nervous to scale back at all because I don’t want to disappoint you, but hearing the feedback from the food blogger’s audience, I couldn’t help but wonder how you feel about it. How many posts per week would you like to see from me? Have a wonderful weekend!Nancy of Marcus Design here for my latest installment of Dissecting the Details. New York based design duo Kirsten Kelli have such a lovely and extensive portfolio, and I’m sharing four of the key features that they utilize in their living room designs. They have a beautiful take on neo-traditionalism, let’s dissect: When you look closely, you’ll find you can count about 10-12 patterns in each of these spaces above! The ladies expertly layer multiple fabrics and patterns for a mix that never looks too busy despite all that is going on in the room.
Throw pillows are a wonderful opportunity to do this, and of course elements like a rug, drapery, and the furnishings add to the luxe mix.chandelier ballroom hartford wi 53027 These 4 features help create the beautiful spaces above, and I’m going to be adding them to my wishlist for my own living room. gummy bear chandelier amazonTo see more from Kirsten Kelli, head to their website here. waterford georgetown chandelierSee you next time! Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it only seems right to celebrate the color pink and everything it represents, and of course all of the amazing breast cancer survivors, those who are currently battling the disease, and those who have unfortunately passed.
Let this month and this post serve as a reminder to do what we can to find a cure whether it is through a charitable donation, volunteer work, or lending your support to someone in the the throes of their valiant battle. The color pink comes in a plethora of shades and is typically associated with the traits of compassion, nurturing, and love. I’ve always been a fan of pink, particularly in its brighter incarnations. I think some people mistakenly believe that pink is girly and meek, but quite the opposite is true. While pink can be feminine and ethereal (this week’s Valentino show comes to mind), it is also a very powerful color. It takes moxie to wear pink or to commit to a pink sofa, pink walls, or a bright pink front door. You’ll notice in my round-up below that pink works in just about any space in various applications and it looks just as fabulous whether you’re dressed for day or evening. Are you a fan of pink? Admittedly, it isn’t a color that I wear very often, but I do have quite a few pops of pink throughout my home.
This month, I challenge you to “Think Pink”! {A Pink Door in Paris} {Ines de la Fressange} {Oscar de la Renta} {Suellen Gregory via Veranda} {Jessica Alba in Reem Acra}Photography by Brittany Ambridge} January 26, 2012 7:16 pm Allée Bleue offers so much more than just a wedding and functions venue.
