Michael Willhoit admits to being obsessed with Africa and particularly with the classic film starring Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn.Last year Mr Willhoit told the Springfield News-Leader newspaper: 'When I die, I am going to be buried in the glass floor.' Michael Willhoit made his money running a Porsche dealership and he ploughed much of it into this extraordinary house in Springfield, Missouri. Last year he told a reporter when he died he wanted to be buried under the glass floor (pictured)But now he has changed his mind and decided to put the house up for sale.Mr Willhoit, who made his fortune selling Porsche cars and in real estate, spent $3million (£2.12million) remodelling the house, including $300,000 (£212,000) alone on landscaping.'I have always been a wild Africa kind of guy,' he told the News-Leader.The house contains a 550,000-piece wooden mosaic floor which cost $400,000 (£281,000) and uses oak, walnut and ebony. The mosaic floor, made by New York-based Armenian Avedis Duvenjian, contains a huge African crocodile motif.

Mr Willhoit, who lives in the house with his wife Lisa, first visited Africa in 1972 and has been in love with the continent ever since. The house is in the suburbs of Springfield, Missouri but the entrance, flanked by elephant statues, is designed to make the visitor feel he is entering an African safari lodge. The house was designed by car dealer Michael WillhoitThe glass floor, which measures eight feet by five feet, is almost two inches thick and was manufactured by the same company which made the windows for the Space Shuttle. The master bedroom contains two seven foot tall hand-carved wooden tusks, which are more than 120 years old. It also has a cast iron elephant dinner table containing smoked glass. The house was built over a creek and the African theme was only added in recent years after Mr Willhoit and his wife bought it. They have spent millions remodelling it and landscaping the gardenOne of the most valuable furnishings is an antique map of Africa published by Emanuel Bowen in London in 1787 and framed in antique bamboo.

The house also contains the fossil of a diplomystus, which is around 55 million years old.Lighting comes from within ostrich eggs mounted on gemsbok horns from the Serengeti plains in Kenya. The house and its gardens are filled with reminders of Africa, like this giant rhinoceros statue. Rhinos can also be found in India and Indonesia but the African variety are distinctive because they have two hornsThe Willhoits are apparently planning on selling the house fully furnished so for the $15m purchase price the buyer will get such oddities as a lion bone dish made in Britain in 1750 a rug made of the skins of ten colobus monkeys back in the 1940s. Also thrown in are two antique bronze cobra candle holders from 19th century Persia. The house is also set in large grounds in the suburbs of Springfield. Inside the house no expense has been spared on the interior decor, which might be considered tacky by some observers. There is a mosaic floor containing 550,000 pieces of oak, ebony and walnut.

It includes a giant African crocodile (pictured) A full body mount of a 650 pound male lion overlooks a hand-made full size copper hot tub built into a rock bluff. The lion shares the cliff with a stuffed baboon The whole house took 10 years to remodel and fill with African-themed furniture. Owner Michael Willhoit admits to loving the film The African Queen, which stars Humphrey Bogart as a grumpy steamboat captain who ends up guiding prim missionary Katharine Hepburn through Africa during World War I The front doors to the property might look African but they were actually taken from a mausoleum in Goa, India. The entrance hall contains an oil painting of a lion The whole house has now been put up for sale on eBay for $15m (£10.5m). Any potential owner will have to share Mr Willhoit's love of all things African The master bedroom is something to behold. There is a large zebra skin rug. The animal in question is believed to have been killed and skinned in the 1950s
