Driving into the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria I felt like I was entering into another world - almost the same feeling like stepping into Disneyland for the first time. The busy metropolitan city Sorrento is booming with people and when you take the long driveway down to the hotel, it suddenly all disappears. This is my review for the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria...What could of been suitable for a king, the green and decorated driveway took you out to cliffs edge to where this old world hotel rests. Italian charm, grand touches, and luxury at it's finest made the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria stand out.As I entered the hotel, it was easy to tell that there was a story to be told, 180 years worth to be exact. This luxury hotel opened originally in 1834 along the iconic Amalfi coast by a local family and is still run and kept by the same family today.

After you enter through the lobby and make your way out to the patio, it is indeed the view that will take your breath away. The colorful Italian palettes compliment the surrounding views of the old architecture and of course the sea.The Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria is famously known for it's large gardens that boast Mediterranean influences like lemon trees, verbena, and lush green vines. chandelier f2hThe pool sits in the back of the property surrounded by beautiful gardens and a delicious restaurant that serves pizza fresh out of a classic brick oven. chandeliers yallingupFor breakfast you enter the grand room where there is a classic Italian spread with waiters who bring you a hot drink of your choice.waterford ardmore chandelierNow the good part.

I have to share the room that was easily double the size of my own apartment in San Francisco. It included a wrap around patio that held 200 people the night before for a wedding, a hallway, full marble bath, a living room, and a grand bedroom. This room blew my mind and may as well have been the nicest one I have ever stayed in. The decorations were delicate yet exquisite at the same time. Italian drapes, glistening chandeliers, and little touches like champagne waiting made this room charming.The Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria is one of the best luxury hotels in Sorrento (also a Leading Hotels of The World) for those who are looking to not be right on the main path but walking distance to town, experience old world Italian charm, and have a luxurious stay that rivals some of the best in the world. The staff were friendly and made the stay even more enjoyable (the concierge even brought me a converter when I forgot mine!).
