I have just learned that he was recently released to a halfway house in the Salt Lake area, but may have already traveled back to the Uintah Basin. Several people have contacted me about Wilkerson's parole. I have no additional information beyond what I've posted here and have no plans to gather anymore information at this time. Wilkerson, 42, was sentenced Monday to serve up to 5 years in prison for violation of a protective order, a third-degree felony.

Judge Samuel Chiara also revoked Wilkerson's probation in a case where he was convicted of failure to register as a sex offender, and sentenced Wilkerson to serve one year in jail. “He does not bond well (with others)," Dr. William Steele said during the hearing, which was televised. One day after Steele made his comments, Wilkerson was arrested for violating the conditions of his parole by trying to contact his then-teenage daughter twice on her cell phone. News accounts report that when Colorado parole agents arrested Wilkerson they located weapons in his apartment, including “half-moon shaped, jagged edge blades attached by black electrical tape to long wooden handles.” Wilkerson was sent back to prison in Colorado but was ultimately released when he completed his sentence in July 2007. It is believed he moved to the Uintah Basin shortly after his release. Court records in Utah show Wilkerson has had several brushes with the law over the past six years. The man called for help and said the woman... had fallen about 100 feet and died. A search and rescue team reached the woman and confirmed that she had died. |Geoff LiesikInvestigators with the Carbon County Sheriff's Office say they now have more information than they've ever had in their investigation of the July 1970 rape and murder of 23-year-old Loretta Jones. Detectives exhumed Jones' remains last month to collect samples for DNA testing. The test results haven't come back yet, but that hasn't kept authorities from making big strides in their investigation. Seattle County and Puyallup County do not exist in the U.S.
