For the hydroid genus Candelabrum, see Candelabridae. For the seven-branched candelabrum in Jewish Temple, see Menorah (Temple). A candelabrum with three branches, empty of candles. Candelabra used for state occasions at the Belgian court A candelabrum (plural candelabrums, candelabra, candelabras),[1] sometimes called a candle tree, is a candle holder with multiple arms. The word comes from Latin. In modern usage the plural form "candelabra" is frequently used in the singular sense, with the true singular form "candelabrum" becoming rare. Likewise, "candelabra" and "candelabras" are preferred over "candelabrums" as the plural form.[1] Although the electrification of indoor lighting has relegated candleholders to the status of backup light sources in most homes and other buildings, interior designers continue to model light fixtures and lighting accessories after candelabra and candlesticks.
Accordingly, the term "candelabra" has entered common use as a collective term for small-based incandescent light bulbs used in chandeliers and other lighting fixtures made for decoration as well as lighting.chandelier yellow lupine In Judaism and the Philippine church Iglesia ni Cristo, the menorah is a special kind of candelabrum.chandelier bavay In the United States and Canada, the plural term candelabra is a nickname for radio masts and towers with multiple transmission antennas. chandeliers boutique sherman txBaltimore's TV stations, WMAR-TV, WBAL-TV, and WJZ-TV in 1959 built the world’s first three-antenna candelabra tower, 730 feet tall. THE LOWDOWN:Esteemed hotelier Ian Schrager has returned to Miami with his first opening here since The Delano in the 90s — and The Miami Beach Edition is fast becoming the darling of Mid-Beach’s rising oceanside hotel strip. From the black tea scented lobby (bespoke Le Labo) to the restored period diving board aside one of two swimming pools and its all-white minimalist bedrooms, design here is flawless.
There are close to 300 rooms, each calm havens in contrast to the rest of the hotel’s hustle. King-sized beds (some have doubles) are cocooning, while writers will adore the desk, which stretches along one side of the room like a lethargic cat. The moulded washbasin looks like a piece of artwork and the minibar is stuffed with on-trend brands: Joe and Seph’s gourmet popcorn, chia bars and Illesteva sunglasses. So far, so chic. While it feels new, the hotel is a renovation of the 1950s Seville Hotel — and seamlessly blends the contemporary with its original Melvin Grossman-designed ‘Miami modern’ architecture.
White Carrara marble floors welcome you into a gorgeous palm-stuffed lobby with tall glittering columns and a gilded tropical garden (complete with pool table and squishy sofas), which is even more beautiful by candlelight.
Dining options come courtesy of Michelin-starred maestro Jean-Georges Vongerichten and food is consistently delicious. Standouts are MARKET, an open-‘til-late casual coffee shop/bar/boulangerie. Choose cheese and charcuterie from stylish mini-counters or prop up the bar with a nightcap. For ritzy, sit-down dining, book a table at the Matador Room for Spanish-Caribbean cuisine under an intricate chandelier. Don’t leave without trying ‘The Pineapple’, a vodka, sherry, pineapple and rosemary cocktail served in an oversized copper pineapple — a rather curious but fabulous concoction.

Nights in Miami never end after dinner, and as one would expect from the man who brought us Studio 54, there are plenty of places to play: electronic dance music pulses permanently poolside, there’s an in-house ice rink
, a bowling alley and a high-end nightclub. Getting bored here would be quite an endeavour indeed.THE GOOD:The bespoke Le Labo toiletries (which match the lobby scent) are the best smelling toiletries on the block.
Between the spa, curated gift shop (by the folks behind Miami BASE), bowling alley, ice rink and club, this hotel is a one-stop entertainment shop.
Lush outdoor lounging — cabanas, cushions, hammocks and day beds sprinkled across lawns under coconut palms.THE NOT-SO-GOOD:The music keeps pumping poolside — don’t expect a quiet swim if you’re nursing a sore head post-partying.THE VERDICT:A sophisticated beachside stay with tropical touches, a sprinkling of Schrager-style Miami glitz and a party vibe. Plus top-notch dining and entertainment to boot.BOOK IT:
