I visit Bujumbura frequently, and alwasy stay at Le Chandelier. The staff are incredible, they treat you like family. My colleague wanted to go to Church on Sunday morning, and the man at reception took her in his car, so she wouldn't get lost. Gym needs a bit of work (which is why I didn't give it 5 stars....). “Room 18 or 11!” “Just gets better and better!” I stayed here last time I was in Bujumbura (Dec 2014) and it was a comfortable experience. The staff is very lovely, breakfast was tasty and healthy and the rooms are spacious. The hotel is located close enough to the city center to not require any commute and far enough from the city to have a calm and relaxing atmosphere... Always stay at Le Chandelier when I'm in Buja. Excellent location (very safe, even in the current situation). They have added a breakfast buffet, which is nice. Staff are extremely helpful. Free shuttle to/from the airport. Big supermarket right next door if you want to buy snacks.

Huge beds with mosquito netting. Rooms 11 and 18 have lovely balconys. All I can promise you is " to make it... I spent a night at Le Chandelier. The hotel is very conveniently situated, close to the shopping area, but far away enough to be quieter. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, and good internet access was a plus. Staff were friendly and helpful and I had a good simple breakfast before departing. Check out took a bit of time.... i stayed there for 1 night and had an late flight. they extended my late checkout till 4pm complimentary. good breakfast, big rooms and good staff. not very far from the city centre still quiet place. This is a pleasant place to stay in central Bujumbura, very well placed for offices and so on. I stayed in a room with a balcony, then later after a trip up country I returned to a room without a balcony and that was really pretty good. You can and should negotiate the price - it should be possible to... I came here for a workshop and I found the place amazing. The staff were all great and helpful, especially Innocent and the two ladies at reception.

Internet connection was perfect. The food variety the best ever. I was in room 18 and regret that I could not make use of the balcony due to limited timing. I stayed at this hotel for 3 weeks. I was in room 18, and my colleague was in room 11. Both have beautiful balconies. These rooms cost a bit extra, but it's worth it (especially for a long stay). No gym, but only a 10 minute walk from a lovely park where you can walk or run... I returned to Bujumbura after living their for 3 years and had the opportunity to stay at Le Chandelier. Nice spacious rooms and friendly staff. The breakfast is exceptional including a fruit platter and soups. Great place for a workshop or a business stay conveniently located. No pool or fitness center though close to the city park for walking and...Largely frozen in time thanks to more than a decade of conflict, there has been very little development in Burundi’s capital, Bujumbura. The steamy little city retains much of its grandiose colonial town planning, with wide boulevards and imposing public buildings.

The peace and relative stability of the last few years mean that change is coming, but for the moment Buju (as it's commonly known) retains an obviously different feel to any other East African capital. This is most obviously manifest in the city's distinctly French outlook on life. Perhaps it's thanks to this French influence that Bujumbura has earned a freewheelin’ reputation for its dining, drinking and dancing scene; despite it's village-like size this is one of the best places to eat out in East Africa. While the security situation is greatly improved, Buju isn’t exactly the safest city in the region, pick-pocketing is very common (keep a sharp eye on those street kids!), so keep your wits about you; especially once the sun goes down. Violent crime is much rare.
