Specialist cakes...order from this fabulous cake artist today!Damon Beard at East Coast Radio House.Durban, South AfricaJust over 12 years ago - Esme was listening to my show ... and heard the Big Favour. She came into ECR a few days later, brought me one of her Bar One cakes and... said that she wanted to make cakes on a weekly basis for my Big Favour recipients and sponsors. In the meantime I'd had a request from a lady called Karyn who had Multiple Sclerosis and was confined to her bed. Karyn's request to the Big Favour was for lunch to be delivered to her home for her husbands birthday as she couldn't get out of bed to make it and wanted him to feel special and loved. Lunch was arranged and I asked Esme to make him a birthday cake. Right after the show a listener called in to say that he would pay Esme to deliver a cake to Karyn once a month for a year. The money never came through but Esme continued to take Karyn a cake once a month... not just for a year, but until she passed away in 2011.

On top of that, every single week, without fail, Esme has delivered two cakes to East Coast Radio so that whoever is in the Big Favour show, gets one of her delicious cakes. After doing some homework, I found out that Esme popped in to Pick and Pay (Musgrave Centre) every day after making cakes to go and buy her ingredients for the next day. When I told Nolan Logan (The PRO for Pick and Pay Customer Service KZN) and Hema Laljit (The Store Manager) this incredible story, they were only too happy to give Esme a R2500 voucher to acknowledge her kindness over all of the years.
